Effective date: 29 April 2026
Last updated: 29 April 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of WalletScribe (the mobile, desktop and web application of the same name, the marketing website at walletscribe.app, and any related services we provide, together the "Service"), operated by Strands Services Ltd., a company registered in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").
By installing, opening or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service in plain language
WalletScribe is a personal finance tracker. You enter your own financial activity manually; the Service does not connect to banks, brokers or payment networks, does not move money, and does not give financial advice. Optional Google Sheets / Drive sync stores your data in your own Google account, not on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or older if your local law sets a higher age of digital consent, for example 16 in some EU countries). By using the Service, you confirm you meet this age requirement.
3. Your account and your data
WalletScribe does not require you to create an account with us. The optional Google sign-in connects you to your own Google account; we do not maintain user accounts on our servers.
You retain full ownership of every piece of data you put into the Service: wallets, transactions, categories, settings. You grant us no rights over your data beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the local features you use.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your device, OS and Google account secure.
- Backing up your data (use Settings → Data → Export periodically).
- Anything you do or that happens through your authenticated session.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to break the law, infringe intellectual property, or harass others.
- Reverse-engineer the Service or its proxy infrastructure beyond what is permitted by mandatory law (UK reverse-engineering exceptions for interoperability remain available).
- Probe, scan, abuse rate limits, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our Cloudflare Worker, our infrastructure, or anyone else's data.
- Distribute modified copies of the Service in a way that misleads users into thinking they are using the genuine WalletScribe.
- Use the Service to launder funds, evade taxes, or knowingly misrepresent financial information to a third party.
We may suspend access to the Worker proxy from any device or network we reasonably believe is abusing it.
5. Pricing, payments and refunds
WalletScribe is currently free to install and use. If we introduce paid features, tipping, or in-app purchases in future, the specific pricing terms (including any refund policy) will be presented at point of purchase and become part of these Terms.
Where in-app purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the platform's own purchase, refund and subscription rules apply. Handle those requests through Apple or Google, not us.
6. Disclaimer: not financial advice
WalletScribe is a tool for tracking your own self-entered data. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. Numbers shown in the app are based entirely on what you enter and on third-party data (such as exchange rates from the Frankfurter API), neither of which we audit or guarantee. Decisions you make based on what you see in the app are yours alone.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for reconciling it with your bank, broker, accountant or any authority you owe money to.
7. Service "as is"
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, or that all defects will be corrected.
- We do not warrant that data stored in your local device, in your Google Sheet, or transferred via our Worker will never be lost. Use the Export feature periodically to keep your own backups.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Strands Services Ltd., its directors, employees, contractors or agents be liable to you for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages.
- Any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or substitute services, whether the claim is in contract, tort, statute or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £50.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived continue to apply, and this section limits our liability only to the extent the law allows.
9. Third-party services
The Service depends on third-party services we don't control, including Google (Sheets, Drive, OAuth), Cloudflare, Apple App Store, Google Play, the Frankfurter exchange-rate API, and the underlying operating system. Their terms govern your use of them. Outages, changes or removal of those services may break parts of the Service, and we are not liable for that.
10. Open source components
The Service includes open-source software listed in the in-app Support screen and on the website. Each component is used under its own licence. Nothing in these Terms restricts your rights under those open-source licences.
11. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the app on next launch and reflected in the Last updated date at the top.
If you keep using the Service after a material change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service and, if you wish, export your data and delete it from your devices.
12. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app, clearing your data via Settings → Data → Delete All Data, and revoking our access in your Google account.
We may suspend or terminate your access to networked features (the OAuth + Worker proxy) if you materially breach these Terms or if we are required to by law.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Subject to your rights as a consumer to bring proceedings in your country of residence, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
