Wait, it's really completely free?
Yes! Every single feature in WalletScribe is free. There are no premium tiers, no paid upgrades, and no features hidden behind a paywall. We built this because we wanted a great expense tracker that doesn't try to monetize its users.
How do you make money then?
We don't. WalletScribe is a passion project built by people who care about honest software. There's an optional donation link if you want to buy us a coffee, but it's completely voluntary and doesn't affect your experience in any way.
Will you add paywalls later?
Absolutely not. WalletScribe was built specifically as an alternative to apps that lock features behind paywalls. Adding paywalls would go against everything we stand for. Free means free, forever.
Can I really export my data for free?
Yes! Export to CSV whenever you want, as many times as you want. Your data is yours. We would never hold your financial information hostage behind a paywall like some other apps do.
Are there any limits on transactions?
Nope. Track unlimited transactions, create unlimited categories, and use every feature without restrictions. There are no artificial limits designed to push you toward a paid plan.
What about cloud sync?
Currently, WalletScribe stores all data locally on your device for maximum privacy. We're working on an optional cloud backup feature using Google Sheets so you can sync across devices while keeping full control of your data.
Is WalletScribe open source?
Not yet! Honestly? We're a little embarrassed about the code quality right now. We're focused on making the app great for users first, and once we've cleaned things up a bit, we'd love to open-source it. Stay tuned!
